Please Help Poster Artist David Singer!

David Singer

David Singer and his partner Yana Womack are in need of help from his lengthy hospitalization from severe pancreatitis and complications. We think Yana's words explain the scope of the situation best in this update sent to friends recently.

Special Thanks to everyone who bought raffle tickets at Rock Art By The Bay, well over $800 was raised to help David, although much, much more is needed. Please don't hesitate to donate towards Davids Hospital and Recovery Bills, any amount helps!

Thanks,

Dearest Friends,

I know you must be wondering if or when David got transferred to the rehab center? I haven't forgotten about you, dear ones. . . today was the big day!!!  He is now in Marin at a Rehab Hospital.

This hospital concentrates on physical therapy for acute patients. think they are expecting he will be there for 2 months. Here he will practice walking and re-learning how to move on his own (he has been in bed over 6 months!).

I just came back from helping him settle in and it is a very nice place among the redwoods. David is very happy to be in this new place, feels it is very psychologically uplifting. He is right by a window where he will be able to breathe in fresh air... which has been quite a long time as all the windows were sealed shut at the hospital in Santa Rosa. Not to say the hospital staff in Santa Rosa wasn't attentive to his needs. In fact, they were quite wonderful and had a pretty nice send off for him earlier today. . . balloons, cards, gifts, the works!

Also, I want to let you know. . . I will have a table to represent David (compliments of TRPS) at their June 25th Poster Art event at Ft. Mason. Please stop by to say hello. I will be there to answer questions about David, sell posters and accept donations... if you feel so inclined, for our continued tenuous financial survival. We again deeply want to express

Our appreciation to those of you who have generously helped us during our time of need XXX.

Big love and hugs to you all,

Yana

Dearest Friends,

A couple more weeks have gone by and there have been ups and downs with David's progress towards healing. The doctors remind me "Two steps forward, One step back". Patience is key now as healing from severe pancreatitis (caused by the gallstone attack) is a slow recovery process so it is important to continue to keep the faith.

A couple days ago I saw him finally emerge from his unconscious-like state. He blinked and turned his head a few times, lightly squeezed my hand and attempted to smile. This the first time I saw him move since the surgery on Dec 17th. David is off the paralytic medication now but continues to be on strong painkillers and sedation. Seeing him move was indeed a milestone, quite a relief and I am happy to be able to share this news with our community who so deeply cares for him. It signals that he is still with us. The strength and fortitude he has exhibited during this ordeal is awesome; the suffering he has experienced and the constant debreedments (cleansing the area to prevent infection, a kind of surgical procedure). . . it is completely amazing that one can endure such repeated invasions.

But life is precious and David is a warrior, so strong, I am truly proud of his determination to survive. The doctors, however, inform me he is not "out of the woods" yet and continue to give him a 50/50 chance but they don't know David like I know him. He always has had incredible powers of accommodation and determination, not to mention his lust for life! Your continued good wishes to David are conveyed to him when I visit him. Your healing light and thoughts are helping him through our "network of love and healing energy holding him like a golden cocoon".

Love,

Yana

David Singer:

Our best wishes and prayers go out to legendary poster artist David Singer who has been hospitalized in very serious condition since Thanksgiving.

We are very excited to hear of Davids recent move to The rehabilitation hospital and are sending him strength and lots of healing vibes.

Anyone who wishes to get a card to David and Yana can send it in care of TRPS.

Additionally, TRPS is helping David with some of his expenses through its Artists' Relief Fund. People who wish to contribute to this Fund can send TRPS a check or money order for this purpose.

It should be made out to The Rock Poster Society and should indicate it is for the Artists' Relief Fund. 100% of the money contributed to this Fund goes to artists' relief. TRPS covers all fees and administrative expenses and does not keep or use any of the money itself.

If someone contributing to the Fund prefers that all of his or her contribution go to David Singer rather than any other artist, he or she should indicate that on the "memo" or "for" line of their check.

Please send cards and donations to:
