A Night of Broth­erly Love: A Ben­e­fit for Phil Alvin

Artist Gary Hous­ton of Voodoo Cat­box has cre­ated a fan­tas­tic silkscreen rock poster to ben­e­fit Phil Alvin. Blasters found­ing mem­ber and lead singer Alvin was hit by the nasty Mersa virus about a year ago and nearly died last sum­mer dur­ing a relapse, accord­ing to his brother, gui­tarist, singer and song­writer Dave Alvin. Phil has since recov­ered but has amassed sig­nif­i­cant med­ical bills that will need help to pay off.

The orig­i­nal mem­bers of the Blasters will reunite and be joined by X, the Knit­ters, Mas­ter of Cer­e­monies Big Sandy, Dave Glea­son, Mike Eldred Trio, The Cal­i­for­nia Feet­warm­ers, The Hula Girls, and The Amer­i­cans on Jan­u­ary 26 at The Obser­va­tory in Santa Ana, Cal­i­for­nia for a ben­e­fit dubbed “Broth­erly Love: A Night for Our Brother Phil Alvin.”
