Artist Relief Trust (ART)

The TRPS Artist Relief Trust started in 2008. The idea was to have funds set aside expressly to provide quick financial help to poster artists in times of need.  We fund this effort through sales of special posters we commission for our TRPS Festival of Rock Posters event every year in San Francisco.
We’re honored to have had so many great artists contribute their efforts to this worthy cause over the years. Enjoy our gallery of past poster images. Some are long sold out, but there are limited remaining copies of many of them in our archives. We’ll offer these online at some point, so check back later if you’re interested.
ART is a community effort, and contributions of any size are welcomed and appreciated. You can donate through the TRPS website any time. We have zero administrative expenses, so every dime goes straight to the ART fund.

Alton Kelley Tribute Poster

Tribute to Alton Kelley

Dave Hunter, 2008

The first ART poster was actually a private project initiated in 2008 by artist Dave Hunter, who passed away in 2017. Hunter, a friend of fellow artist Alton Kelley, designed and printed a poster on his own initiative to help Kelley’s family, which had been struggling with the rock-poster icon’s health issues prior to his own passing on June 1, 2008. To honor his friend, who loved motorcycles, Hunter chose a stock image of a 2007 Harley-Davidson Twin Cam 96 engine, crowned by Kelley’s name in Rick Griffin-style lettering.
