Peregon Creative
After receiving his B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Georgia Southern University, Derek landed a job at a historic music venue in Atlanta, The Masquerade. It was there in the dark halls of Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory (the names of the 3 stages) that his love of music and art collided.
As the in-house designer, he was able to create posters and graphics for a wide range of events – helping him hone his skill set and provide an adaptable style range depending on the type of music or audience. A poster he designed caught the eye of Big Gigantic during one of their first shows in Atlanta. This led to the launch of his freelance career, designing cover art and gig posters.
A couple of years later Derek began working at an e-commerce web design studio. By day he was learning new skills as a front-end web designer, and by night he worked for bands and clients in the music industry. This juggling act went on for several years until he started Peregon Creative in June 2016 (a combination of his last name, Perez, and the word “paragon” – a person or thing viewed as a model of excellence).
Since its inception, Derek has grown the company around his colorful designs and illustrations for clients ranging from The Atlanta Braves to The Avett Brothers.
