TRPS Mystery Tube – Episode 4: Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

December 8, 2020 By Nick 1 Comment

The Rock Poster Society presents

TRPS Mystery Tube

Episode 4: Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

The Rock Poster Society went LIVE on Friday December 11, 2020, at 5:00pm PST/8:00pm EST with the fourth broadcast of MysteryTube. Please enjoy Julia Fell of the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts speak with artist and collector Gary Westford, who has loaned posters and fashions from his vast collection for a new exhibition titled “Lights, Color, Fashion: Psychedelic Posters and Patterns of 1960s San Francisco.” Julia and Gary gave TRPS an exclusive sneak peek of the exhibition, most of which was installed before the show was put on hold due to COVID-19—it is currently scheduled to open some time in the spring of 2021. For more information, visit www.bethelwoodscenter.org.

Gary Westford lived in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1960s, which is when he first began collecting posters. He has spent the last five decades building his outstanding collection. In 2017, eighty posters from his collection were gifted to De Young Museum in San Francisco, and twenty eight were included in the museums “Summer of Love” exhibition.

The Rock Poster Society (TRPS) was founded in 1998 by a small contingent of collectors, dealers, artists and enthusiasts. We are a nonprofit, all-volunteer (nope, nobody gets paid) organization which seeks to perpetuate and promote the long-standing relationship between music and graphic art that we so fondly call “Rock Poster Art”.

I may have something you may want in the Museum. I have a glass that John Sabastion drank out of. Any interest?
