Episode 7: Mark Arminski, Steve Walters, Jay Ryan
The Rock Poster Society went LIVE on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 5:00pm PT with the seventh broadcast of Mystery Tube. Watch host Marty Hohn, President of TRPS, talk with rock poster artists Mark Arminski, Steve Walters, and Jay Ryan.
Mark Arminski is an American rock concert poster artist born in 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. He began studying art at the Oakland Community College and pursued printmaking in Stone Lithography at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.
Steve Walters’ Screwball Press has been designing and screen printing rock posters and other ephemera in Chicago since 1991.
Jay Ryan is a poster maker and rock musician. He is noted for his squirrel posters as well as being a bassist in the band Dianogah. From 2002-2007, Jay served as Vice President of the American Poster Institute, a non-profit group which manages the successful Flatstock series of poster shows.
The Rock Poster Society (TRPS) was founded in 1998 by a small contingent of collectors, dealers, artists and enthusiasts. We are a nonprofit, all-volunteer (nope, nobody gets paid) organization which seeks to perpetuate and promote the long-standing relationship between music and graphic art that we so fondly call “Rock Poster Art”.
